Cinema-Concert
(Charles Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd…)
The magic of silent films with live music comes to life in a unique way with each performance. Watching the film alongside the audience creates an unrepeatable experience, where the music is adapted live to match the emotions and rhythms of every scene.
The musical accompaniment for silent films is always tailored to the specific needs of each cultural event, theater, or festival. The film selection is made in collaboration with the organizers, allowing for a wide range of genres, from comedy and mystery to surrealism or even Christmas-themed films. In this way, the live performance recreates the soundtracks of the great masters of silent cinema, such as Charles Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Fritz Lang, Josef von Sternberg Harold Lloyd and Alfred Hitchcock , among others.
There are also various format possibilities: a full-length feature film, two medium-length films, or a combination of short films and a medium-length feature, adapting to the duration and dynamic of the event.
In recent years, César Latorre has performed numerous cine-concerts, with the support of institutions such as the SACO Festival and the Princess of Asturias Foundation, at prestigious venues like the Teatro Campoamor, Teatro Prendes, the Auditorio Príncipe Felipe and the Fábrica de Armas in Oviedo.
In solo piano, duo, trio, or quartet format, César adapts the instrumentation to each film and scene, using various keyboards, percussion, and effects. His approach is based on improvisation and live composition, adjusting to the different cinematic styles of the silent film era, from comedies to surrealist works.
Some of the standout titles he has performed include «Tiempos Modernos», «El Maquinista de la General», «Metrópolis», «El Gabinete del Doctor Caligari», «The Cameraman» and «Number Please».
