“Fastforward” is the debut album of the César Latorre Trio, released by Free Code Records in 2009.
This album showcases Latorre's original compositions, performed alongside the founding musicians of the group: Greek double bassist Petros Klampanis and Latvian drummer Artis Orubs.
This work serves as a lyrical allegory in a jazz context, reflecting on the passage of time and how our memory experiences it. The compositions draw inspiration from days that feel like they’re passing in fast-forward, forgotten memories, and both physical and emotional journeys.
Freedom of interpretation and improvisation are the central themes of these three talented musicians' musical discourse. The songs weave together moments of deep lyricism, impressionistic hints, contemporary elements, and splashes of psychedelic free jazz.
The careful interaction among the three instrumentalists aims to project a personal and unpredictable universe to the audience. It is alive music, devoid of artifice, where individualism takes a back seat to the dialogue with the instruments, telling unique stories in real-time, for and about time.
